I really love the ending. It is indeed true. I am a self taught violinist. I only got 2 years of lessons when I was I think 5. I picked up fiddle when I was 7... and really have only been doing that since then. (Well, besides what we are required to play in my school's symphony orchestra) And quite frankly, I love it. Thanks for the post. It brightened my day.

Yup, maybe you don't remember my classic experience of the same, perhaps you do, but it's become the iconic story of inspiration for my life that I return to whenever I loose perspective and believe that life could actually be boring.... Or when I forget what's going on and think it's what I'm DOING or not doing that's important, rather than what I'm BRINGING to it. My waffle man was a Black man who directed cars in a Safeway parking lot near UH back in the 70's when I was in college in Honolulu. The lot was across the street from Down to Earth near the corner of Beretania & University (yeah, know where I mean,eh). This beautiful guy danced and jived and smiled and blew kisses and LOVED each and every one of us in our noisy, smelly cars on the hot black asphalt day in day out for years. I'll always remember him and I have told this little snap shot countless times. He's been my role model all these years! It's easy to be inspired when surrounded by exciting stuff (music, friends, natural beauty, etc.), but the real deal is finding it inside, no matter what it looks like outside and dishing it out daily with a hot parking lot on a noisy urban corner for your stage or a can o' whipped cream for your magic wand, if you're lucky.

The circus looks and sounds pretty spectacular. Love the Running Horses piece with the Chinese string musicians. You look great, Shaina. When you're done with the circus, we can't wait to see you back in the Bay Area!
